The Day I Met Blood Orange…

It was first come first in for the show featuring early Blood Orange tunes at Sony’s Flagship store in midtown…I was a Hairstylist at the time and my client who worked with FlavorPill actually promoted these shows …there were 2 listening time slots and I was able to sneak into the second one fairly easily.
When the music part finished they ushered us downstairs for drinks and refreshments…Sony products everywhere to play with…Shantell Martin doing her art live and on display…I was able to snag a T-shirt because I was one of the first to get into the venue at the beginning…everything free.
Dev Hynes was down there hanging out and chitchatting…I went up and introduced myself…shook his hand and became a fanatic right then and there…that was 13 years ago today…hey…Dev is turning 40 in a few days…I’m pushing 60…DANG...I know I’ll look back at today and my first inklings of Blood Orange with fondness…respect and gratitude always…
Cool story - thanx! You were 46 and Dev was 27 . . . Funny how we go up in years, and admire talent in people younger than us . . . My doctor looks like a high school teen, I told her. She smiled, but she was all business. I have to admire that!
